Keeping up with the Indiana General Assembly

What’s Next? Election Day is over and our new representatives both locally and nationally will soon take their respective offices. Yet, we are only nearing the beginning of the 2025 Indiana General Assembly Session. As the days of 2024 come to an end and new politicians enter the scene, there is an anticipation of what is to come for Hoosiers in the new year.

Our office wants to highlight 4 ways that you can stay up to date on the happenings of Indiana’s legislative session that will begin early January and end mid-April.

1.    Diocesan Newspapers

No matter where you live in Indiana, you can find information about the Indiana General Assembly Session and bills being proposed by our state representatives in your diocesan newspaper. Throughout session we send each newspaper articles to share about the trending updates of session.

Evansville: The Message

Fort Wayne-South Bend: Today's Catholic

Gary: Northwest Indiana Catholic

Soon these halls of the state house will be full!

Indianapolis: The Criterion

Lafayette: The Catholic Moment

2.    Secular & Social Media

Several different secular media resources cover the Indiana General Assembly. These include newspapers, websites, radio stations, and news channels. These reporters typically also cover session information via X (formerly Twitter) and other social media platforms.

3.    IGA Website

The Indiana General Assembly has their own website: https://iga.in.gov/

On this website you can follow the 2025 session, the bills being proposed, and check out the Indiana Constitution and Indiana Code.

4.    Indianacc.org

Finally, you can get our office’s unique perspective on the 2025 session by checking in our website and signing up for our e-mail newsletter here: Indiana Catholic Conference Newsletter Registration.

By signing up for alerts, you also get information about our weekly podcast: the ICAN (Indiana Catholic Action Network) Podcast. We will share our perspective as representatives of the Catholic Church in Indiana on the most pressing policy areas, always drawing back to the principles of our faith. Additionally, we need your help in promoting our Church’s teaching. We will share information throughout session on how you can engage in our work with the legislators and dialogue with your communities about policy and legislation as it is being worked on in real time.
